Package Overview

Rajasthan — the "Land of Kings" — is India at its most spectacular. Massive Mughal-era forts dominate skylines, painted havelis (mansions) line bazaar streets, camel caravans cross golden sand dunes, and lakes shimmer with palace reflections. No state delivers the visual drama of Rajasthan.

Our 6-night circuit takes you through the four essential Rajasthan cities. Jaipur (the Pink City) — Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal. Jodhpur (the Blue City) — Mehrangarh Fort towering over a sea of blue-painted houses. Jaisalmer (the Golden City) — a fort literally made of gold sandstone, rising from the Thar Desert. Udaipur (the City of Lakes) — the most romantic city in India, with its palaces floating on Lake Pichola.

Best months: October–March. Winter evenings (December–February) are cold but magical. October has the best deals and post-monsoon green landscape against the golden forts.

Jaipur — Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar (UNESCO), Hawa Mahal
Jodhpur — Mehrangarh Fort (India's best fort), Jaswant Thada, Blue City walk
Jaisalmer — Golden Fort (only living fort in India), Patwon Ki Haveli
Sam Sand Dunes — sunset camel safari and desert camp with folk music
Udaipur — City Palace, Lake Pichola sunset cruise, Jagdish Temple
Traditional Rajasthani thali dinners
Folk music and puppet show evening

Must-Visit Places

Top spots you cannot miss on this trip

Amer Fort — Jaipur
landmark

Amer Fort — Jaipur

A 16th-century Rajput hill fort above Maota Lake — a maze of ornate Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), and secret garden courtyards. The elephant ride up the ramp is controversial — opt for the Jeep instead.

Book the 6pm Amer Fort Light & Sound Show (₹200) for the most dramatic experience of the fort. Arrive 30 minutes early for the best seats on the forecourt steps.

Jaisalmer Fort & Desert Camp
experience

Jaisalmer Fort & Desert Camp

The world's only living fort-city — 5,000 people still live inside the 12th-century golden sandstone walls. The Sam Sand Dunes sunset camel safari and overnight desert camping are the iconic Rajasthan experience.

Stay inside the fort for at least one night — the views from the ramparts at dawn are extraordinary. The morning light turns the sandstone bright gold.

Udaipur — Lake Palace & Pichola
nature

Udaipur — Lake Palace & Pichola

The "City of Lakes" — the Lake Palace hotel floats on Lake Pichola, visible from the City Palace terraces. The evening boat ride on Pichola with the Monsoon Palace lit up on the hill behind is Udaipur's finest moment.

Take the sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola (₹300, departs 5pm) for the Lake Palace view. The Bagore ki Haveli cultural show at 7pm is the best traditional dance performance in Rajasthan.

Hot Air Balloon — Jaipur

Hot Air Balloon — Jaipur

A 1-hour sunrise balloon flight over Jaipur's pink palaces and the Aravalli Hills — one of India's best balloon experiences. Views of Amer Fort from 500 feet above are extraordinary.

1 hour flight₹8,000–12,000 per person

Travel Tips

Expert advice before you go

October–March is ideal. April–June is 40–48°C — possible but demanding. Avoid if sensitive to heat.

Carry dupatta/scarf for women visiting temples. Shoulders and knees covered required at all religious sites.

Jaisalmer is 6 hours from Jodhpur by road or 4.5 hours by train — the Jodhpur–Jaisalmer railway through the Thar Desert is beautiful.

Most Rajasthan heritage havelis offer excellent home-cooked meals — always eat where your host family cooks, not at tourist restaurants.

Rajasthan blew our minds. The camel safari at Jaisalmer watching the sunset was pure magic. Mehrangarh Fort is the most impressive thing either of us have ever seen. Seamless organisation from YlooTrips.

Took the family (2 kids, 8 and 12 years old). Perfect for families — forts are endlessly fascinating for children. The camel ride was the kids' highlight. Great guides.
