cultureRishikesh Ganga Aarti — Triveni Ghat
Every evening at 6pm, priests perform a mesmerizing fire aarti on the banks of the Ganga. Hundreds of oil lamps float downstream. One of North India's most spiritually powerful daily rituals.
Arrive 30 minutes early to get a front-row spot on the steps. The most powerful experience is on Saturdays when more priests participate.
natureMussoorie — Kempty Falls & Mall Road
The "Queen of Hill Stations" at 2,005m above Dehradun — colonial-era Mall Road, viewpoints over the Doon Valley, and the cascading Kempty Falls 15km outside town.
Visit Kempty Falls early morning before tour buses. The falls are best in September–October post-monsoon when volume is highest.
natureJim Corbett National Park
India's oldest national park (1936) and the best place in the world to see Bengal tigers in the wild. The Dhikala zone jeep safaris at dawn are the most successful tiger-sighting drives.
Book Dhikala zone permits online 90 days in advance — it sells out completely. October–June is open; Dhikala zone opens November 15.

Rishikesh is a sacred town — alcohol and non-veg food are officially prohibited near the ghats and in the central market.
March–June and September–November are ideal. Monsoon (July–August) has heavy rain and landslides on mountain roads.
Kedarnath helicopter bookings open 60 days ahead — book immediately online through the IRCTC Yatra portal.
Rishikesh–Haridwar corridor is well-connected — trains from Delhi take 4–5 hours. Volvo buses are comfortable overnight options.
